It's the next best thing that's bearable.

[ she shifts, a little uncomfortably. ]

[ a rumbling hum, thoughtful. ]

[ that's close enough to mauling, right ]

[ although it's sort of... more said in the tone of swatting a fly, rather than actually biting. ]

That's—

[ it comes out slightly more breathy and needy than she anticipated; she shifts again, and it's—well. it's a different kind of hunger, and she hates it. it's really illegal that she can't be in control of her impulses 24/7. ]

[ those claws curl, slightly, at the shifting, pressing lightly into the underside of her thigh.

She makes a questioning noise, prompting, as she tilts her head down as much as she can to snuffle against Hope's back. or close as she can get, anyway. ]

Nnh—

God, I'd really go for it right now. I don't know what to do with this.

[ A rumble of acquiescence, leaning all the way down to lay her out on the grass and remove her claws. ]

Might rrrip clothes. If you don't take themmmm off.

[ dry, exhausted: ]

You're a gentlewoman.

[ she kicks her shoes off into the grass and—after a moment of hesitation that feels longer in her head than it actually turns out to be, starts loosening her pants. ]

You said—I'd never have to worry about losing control around you.

[ not quite accusatory, more just—ironic. ]

[ A long pause, watching her.

Then an uneasy grumble, taking a few steps back. ]

Then don't.

...yeah, okay.

I didn't have sex for probably a century so I'm—a little... weird about it, but—

[ she just, scrubs a hand over her face again. ]

I won't.

[ ... i have no idea what that means.

she stays where she is, waiting for some sort of-- actual rejection, or some such, eyes narrowed. ]

...Christ.

I'm saying yes, all right?

[ huffs, but approaches again, hovering over her. ]

You seemmm so torrrturrrred about it.

Thought I'd give you an out.

[ primly: ] Circumstance has predisposed me to overcompensating on my boundaries on occasion.

You know, it's the trauma.

[ another rumbling hum, nosing her muzzle up against the bottom edge of Hope's shirt, which almost certainly oozes some of that slick liquid onto her; hot, in the cool air. ]

Mmmmaybe I'mmm not interesting in making it worrrse.

Ah—that's, hh, not very monstrous of you...

[ coping skills: anxiety can't catch you when you're being a shit about things, right ]

[ huffs against her skin, eyes closed; that inky black tongue slipping out to smooth along her abdomen, rough and ticklish like a cat's.

she's silent for a long moment. ]

... won't inflict the same shit that happened to mmmee.

[ she's quiet for another long moment, and sort of... just puts her hand on Nychta's big crocodile head. gently. ]

...there's really too many of us with that kind of story.

[ tilts her head into the touch, eyes still closed. ]

... so we can mmmake new memmmories.

...yeah. Sure can, can't we.

[ tilting her head lightly against the top of her snout— ]

Company's not bad, really.

[ huffs again.

Talking is hard in this form though; she pulls her head back a little to nudge under her jaw, extending that tongue past her rows of sharpened teeth to rasp against Hope's neck. ]

[ she reflexively tilts her head back and to the side without even thinking (like she's expecting someone to bite?), and makes a little sharp noise in the back of her throat, eyes fluttering closed. ]

Ah—

[ unfortunately if nychta bites she's taking hope's entire head off. this is a Big Maw.

Trails up along her pulse point and under her chin, as one of those clawed hands presses light against her chest to push her down. ]

[ really it's for the best that nychta can't bite like this, because she makes a slightly embarrassed noise when she catches herself having done that. some reactions just get ingrained.

she lets Nychta push her down, though, her breaths coming a little more labored, and lets go of her neck to slump down against the grass fully, one knee propped up. ]

[ laps gently at her skin once she's down, just tiny little strokes of that rough tongue down her neck again until her shirt prevents her.

That clawed hand seems surprisingly dexterous, too-- though it's large and the fingers are thick, she's delicate with her claws, curling them around and gently pressing in against the fabric covering hope's inner thigh. ]

[ there's a series of sharp little intakes of breath, in a pleased kind of way— ]

Should—finish what I started...

[ which is to say, she tugs her waistband down, pulling the fabric free of her and kicking it off into the grass. ]
