[He flushes, hard - ducks his head - can't quite stop from glancing to where her legs still bracket his own, hers bare from the short skirt and his encased in stockings.]

The, like - the kissing and stuff. Even if it's just in dreams.

[A better end to the thought than she'd been afraid of, but--still. It's not as though she had forgotten about the feel of his hose against her inner thighs, she'd just been doing a slightly better job at pretending that was the case so she didn't have to move. Now her legs twitch into the warmth, just a little, and she only just barely manages to keep her gaze steady]

[Stares at her for a beat or two, blank, like it's the most obvious answer in the world. And then, because there's no harm in saying it in a dream:]

I said it way back when, and I meant it - what we got's a big deal. You're, like - kind of amazing? You're more important to me than anyone.

I ain't about to lose that over kissing stuff, no matter how good the kissing stuff is.

[Stares back, blank, like it was the least obvious answer in the universe.

It's not the words, they make sense, mostly. Though upon closer inspection they don't make much sense at all--not when directed towards her, at least. The dream makes it even more baffling--this isn't generally the message her self-conscious feels the need to deliver. It kind of makes it harder to ignore.]

[Shifts a little, self-conscious.]

Like... you're funny, and fun, and brave, and pretty, and you're always up to do dumb stuff, or even just, like - be together. Hang out. Be close.

I dunno why you put up with me sometimes, but I'm - lucky. I'm lucky I got you at all. So I can ignore the kissing part, long's we still got all the rest. The rest's... real good.

[He reaches out, like he wants to touch her face the way he did before: careful, like she's something precious. But he catches himself before he does - seems to realize what he's doing - flushes a little, and makes himself put his hand down.]

So. So, anyway. If it's weird, having dreams like this... we probly better not keep going. Cause they're, like - real nice? But you're right, it ain't fair.

[Nothing follows, and eventually she grabs his wrist so he won't leave before she's figured out anything else to say.

It's--a lot to parse, all at once, but it's so rare that she hears this many words in a row about feelings come out of his mouth that, dream or no, she doesn't interrupt, even though there are so many small things she'd otherwise grab onto to dismiss the whole argument. (Pretty? Brave? Lucky? No way.)

Her cheeks darken nonetheless, and she can't just sit here going in circles forever, and starts again, slow.]

I...don't need you to do nothing like that. You're doing--good.

[She looks up at his face, and down at her lap and the weaving of their legs, and eventually, over to where she's still got his wrist held fast. At length she loosens her grip, slipping her hand around his instead.]

[He hesitates, when she takes his hand, like he's not sure he should. But it's hard not to accept it when he wants it this badly, so he gives in - laces their fingers together, and presses his palm to her palm.]

I been trying a long time, but, like - we're half-dressed in some dream about a game? So. I mean. It kinda looks like I ain't doing a great job pretending.
