Is your home nearby? If there is one creature, there will be more—but my comrades will keep this sanctuary protected, so I can at the very least keep you safe on your journey back.
That's right. After years, perhaps, they might gain consciousness—but until then, they are but slaves to their masters, those who have converted them, and are unable to disobey. They will mindlessly destroy whatever is in their path, and kill humans to eat their flesh.
It is, of course, a difficult thing—even if they are no longer human, they were once before, and they have such shape. Even after they gain consciousness, they are still subservient to their sire, forced to kill for them and then given scraps in return—and when they have become independent, they have already killed many, many humans.
It is unfortunate—no, to say that would be understating it. It is heartbreaking. It would not be odd to condemn what you saw, just now.

It would be for the best if you were to forget about the events that have occurred tonight.

[Also, the church put him on edge]
[He does not like churches,]

Of course, I don't have any desire to do that, either. As I said before—it is my job to protect you.

That person was already dead, and yet their bodies were made to be weapons—their deaths, desecrated. Their souls could not rest in peace like that.
To those creatures, that were once human, purification is mercy.
