All a tool wants is to fulfill its purpose. I exist to protect and love this world, and everyone and everything in it. Our Lady, gracious and fickle Luna, made me and those like me so that we could be whatever is needed to achieve that goal.

So if it's this sort of thing, what I want is to love you as best as I can, and to make you feel as good and fulfilled as possible. And so, I will be whatever you desire.

I'm not throwing a temper tantrum. I'm just doing what's expected of me. If a scythe ought to be a scythe, then of course it'd be a scythe.

And all I want to be is what I am. Isn't that all anything wants, in the end?

I don't understand you at all. Wanting to change shapes is one thing but it should be for yourself and not anyone else.

I'm a wolf, actually. If we're talking about shapes, anyway. That's what Luna wanted this incarnation to be, so it's the form I take the most often.

I just say dog because that's what people would rather me be. And at my core, my purpose is to be used to bring about the end of all things - to reap the souls of all Creation and return them to the void. Ultimately, every shape I take beyond that is secondary to my function - they just help me to do my job, in various ways, at various times. And what shape I should be, of course, is decided by my wielder. That is how I was made, and that is how I wish to stay.

Okay, but your purpose back home doesn't mean junk, here. You should find a new one. For yourself.

Oh, I did. Serving my pack and my master. But a repurposed tool is still a tool, and so what I want is still what I was made for: to protect the people I love and to bring them happiness in every way that I possibly can.

Yeah, well, the people you love probably love you too, so they should want you to be happy.

It goes both ways.

[ sitting on the bed finally, leaning back on her paws ]

I wonder - what makes you think I'm not happy? Mm, let me amend that: there are a lot of things that make me unhappy, but they all involve failure to carry out my purpose.

Just that the people who love you would probably like to see you happy by the things you want and not specifically cuz it's what they want.

Anyway, being used by peeps seems like a miserable life, even if you say you love it.

[ they move to climb into her lap, immediately planting a kiss on her neck. ]

and she reaches up to use one of her large paws to press lightly against Sashay's chest, urging her back a bit. ]
